Position Summary: The position is a member of the systems team of Research Computing. The systems team is responsible for cluster computing environments (high-performance, high-throughput, data-intensive), storage subsystems, virtual scientific workstation systems, large capacity archive, secure computing enclave for regulated data, select relational database services, and other ad-hoc capabilities. Education Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming, or closely related area; or a - Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area; or an Associate's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or Networking Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming, or closely related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Journey level requires an additional one year of education or experience. - Advanced level requires an additional two years of education or experience. Bachelor's Degree preferred

Qualification and Experience: REQUIRED: 1.) Work experience in a relevant/related role 2.) Proficiency with Linux/Unix server systems administration 3.) Ability to work collaboratively and collegially in a team environment 4.) Demonstrated customer service skills 5.) Knowledge and comfort operating in an environment that utilizes configuration management and provisioning systems. 6.) Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and deploy new and emerging technologies PREFERRED: 1.) Experience with SALT, Cobbler, SLURM, git, and continuous integration software 2.) Experience with infrastructure and platform services from cloud providers (e.g., Azure, Google, Amazon) 3.) Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating system, management infrastructure, and technology stack 4.) Experience in an academic information technology organization 5.) Experience working directly with end-users 6.) Experience providing information technology services to research faculty, research labs, and/or lab staff 7.) Experience with GPFS, Netapp ONTAP, NTFS. 8.) Experience and comfort with MySQL and Postgresql 9.) Experience with a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environment 10.) Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 11.) Knowledge and experience with various storage technologies and filesystems in a high-capacity and i/o-intensive deployment context 12.) Experience as a system administrator in an environment that stores and/or processes regulated data, including individually identifying and personal health information
