The Department of Political Science at Northeastern University invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate or Full Teaching Professor in Political Science beginning September 2018. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to and experience in undergraduate teaching and other experiential educational programs such as Model UN, Model NATO, and Model Arab League. This is an untenured, but continuing and tracked position with the possibility of promotion to Associate and Full Teaching Professor, as well as multi-year (3 year and 5 year) contracts. The initial rank will be determined based on the credentials of the final candidate. The standard teaching load is six courses per year as well as service and professional development duties.


Candidates are required to hold a doctoral degree in Political Science or a related field by the start date. All candidates are expected to provide evidence of excellence in teaching. While course needs are broad, candidates must be able to teach undergraduate courses in the core teaching areas of American Politics, Public Policy, Comparative Politics, or International Relations in addition to other elective courses in the candidate’s area of expertise for the undergraduate degree programs in Political Science. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.
