The Department of Pathology together with the Quantitative Sciences Unit (QSU) in the Department of Medicine's Center for Biomedical Informatics Research at Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a biostatistician to join its faculty at the Assistant or Associate rank on the Non-Tenured Research Line.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field and an outstanding record doing collaborative biostatistics and engaging in team science with an emphasis in applications that may focus on digital pathology, molecualr diagnosis,immunology, cancer biology, or neurodegeneration among other areas of research. Areas of methodological expertise may include prediction modeling, epidemiology, survival analysis, causal inference, computational biology, bioinformatics and clinical informatics.
We expect the successful candidate to engage primarily in collaborative research and to develop an independent research agenda in the development of methods directly stemming from collaborative work. Specifically, the candidate will help to build research infrastructure in the Department of Pathology, and will serve as the leading statistician on a number of studies initiated by investigators in Pathology, which will involve mentoring junior data scientists in team science as well as clinical and translational investigators in research methods. The candidate is expected to identify and resolve methodological issues that arise in collaborative research, as a major expectation is to develop a research program in methodological areas that will directly benefit the candidate's collaborative research.
Criteria for the position include evidence of the potential to obtain peer reviewed research funding, excellence in collaborative biostatistics, teaching, and mentoring appropriate to the programmatic needs of the QSU.
The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
