POSITION: Assistant Professor of Child Development and Family Studies

EFFECTIVE DATE: August 20, 2018, Fall Semester

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience


Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Family and Consumer Sciences or a closely related field with at least one graduate degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Studies, Family Studies, or closely related field
Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2018
Demonstrated knowledge of the Family and Consumer Sciences discipline
Demonstrated potential in teaching at college level
Demonstrated potential for a productive program of research in child development or closely related field
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain contacts with social service and/or educational agencies
Active participation in professional organizations related to the profession
Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
Experience working in a Family and Consumer Sciences unit or equivalent
Familiarity with current discipline-related professional issues and legislation in California and other states
Graduate training in child development with supporting courses in family
Family Life Education Certification
Experience in leadership positions in professional associations Experience in using instructional technology
Experience as an advisor of an on-campus student organization
Experience in career and academic advising of undergraduates
Demonstrated competence in program and curriculum development Demonstrated competence in obtaining internal and external funding Demonstrated leadership in professional organizations related to the profession
