Screenwriting / TV Writing Instructor

The Department of Professional Studies at Emerson College, located in Boston, MA is seeking part-time instructors in screenwriting for its continuing education unit, beginning spring 2018. The Department invites applications for instructors to teach courses in screenwriting (introductory and advanced levels), tv writing, narrative tv and/or film form, and film industry business.

The ideal candidate will have an MA/MFA and teaching experience in scriptwriting for film or television. Experience as a television writer or playwright is also desirable. This position is project-based and involves teaching continuing education adult students and facilitating evening workshops on a weekly basis for a 10-week period.

The instructor will be responsible for conducting non-degree courses and seminars to beginning, intermediate, or advanced screenwriting levels, and providing feedback and constructive criticism to adult students.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Create an appropriate course syllabus; and conduct interactive weekly evening workshops, in-class activities, and homework assignments; and a final assignment for the class members.
  • Maintain accurate records, including class schedules, student rosters, attendance and grading; and other relevant duties as required.

The successful candidate will report to the Department of Professional Studies and Special Programs at Emerson College. The position is part-time with no benefits.
