Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job

The ideal candidate is a specialist in the merger of dance, technology, and production design, and is adept at integrating current and relevant media technologies within the dancer’s creative process. The candidate excels at delivering dance-centered technology and production courses that utilize industry standard software, such as Photoshop, Final Cut Pro X/Adobe Premier, QLab, Isadora and other applicable programs. This new faculty member is skilled in collaboration across multiple disciplines and will serve as a role model while mentoring graduate thesis and undergraduate capstone projects. Additionally, the candidate will maintain a consistent agenda of creative research and engagement in the area of dance technology at the national/international level and provide continued vision and expansion of the dance technology curriculum.

Educational Requirements for the Position

MFA or PhD in Dance.

Experience Required for the Position

Experience teaching at the college level or equivalent experience is required. Professional experience in technology, and production design is highly desired.

Other Requirements for the Position

All Department of Dance faculty members must develop creative and/or scholarly research that demonstrates continuing growth of regional, national and international visibility. The applicant must work collegially with others and be committed to mentoring students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from a variety of communities and cultures, and a commitment to encourage and support diversity is essential. Service is an integral aspect of the position, including advisement of dance majors, active recruitment, participation in departmental meetings and activities, and service on committees at the department, college and university levels. The successful candidate will be an inspiring teacher and artist who will make strong contributions to the department’s continuing development.
