Duties: Reporting to the Director of Research and Prospect Management, this position provides prospect research and prospect management services in support of the Wharton School's fundraising and engagement efforts within the division of Wharton External Affairs. The Associate Director will work closely with the Director of Research and Prospect Management to define and produce a range of research information products. In collaboration with the Director of Research and Prospect Management, the Associate Director will work closely with the Vice Dean to shepherd prospects through the philanthropic cycle (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship). Responsibilities include researching, managing and tracking a portfolio of prospects for the Vice Dean and Dean. He/she will also prepare and develop prospect lists for strategy discussion; as needed, will be able to provide analytical support for fundraising initiatives. He/she will use departmental, University, Internet-based, and other external sources to identify and develop profiles. The Associate Director helps ensure that Wharton is following prospect management guidelines and tracking information correctly in the database. Works well with research and prospect management colleague(s) at Wharton and in Penn's Development and Alumni Relations Advancement and Research Analysis office.

- Responsible for prospect management for Vice Dean of Wharton External Affairs (manages and maintains prospect portfolio and prepares briefings; identifies and works to executive next steps for relationship development)
- Prepares briefings for meetings and events involving the Dean and Vice Dean of the Wharton School
- Consults proactively with Wharton clients in developing special prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy
-Collaborates with colleagues in the department, school, and Development and Alumni Relations to manage prospect relationships

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in field relevant to research activities of the department and three to five years of direct relevant research and/or prospect management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of prospect research skills required, including familiarity of traditional as well as electronic and internet-based resources. Ability to assimilate and summarize large amounts of diverse investment and business information within various industry groups. Knowledge of international research resources, investment markets, and/or executive compensation a plus. Knowledge of fundraising process and development cycle necessary. Excellent written and oral presentation skills with a keen eye to detail. Excellent computer skills needed in Microsoft Office and relational databases. Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines is essential. Excellent customer service skills required. Ability to work effectively with large, diverse group of clients to meet their prospect management needs. Must be able to lead and work within a team environment. Candidate must be inclined to curiosity.
