Assistant Professor-Elementary Math/Science Education

General Summary of Responsibilities: The Department of Elementary Education seeks candidates for an academic, tenure-track faculty appointment. The position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising teacher candidates in Early Childhood Education, primarily in the areas of math and science; advise early childhood education candidates; conduct a research agenda that includes publications, presentations, and grant writing; and provide service the University, College, Department, Profession, and public schools in the region. Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in early childhood, elementary education, math education, or science education, curriculum and instruction or a closely related field with at least a master's degree in early childhood/elementary education. ABD applicants will be considered only if doctoral degree is conferred by the appointment date of August 1, 2018. At least five years of public school experience teaching math and/or science in early childhood or elementary education grades K-5. Evidence of the creative use of technology for teaching and learning. Knowledge of P-5 science and mathematics methods and current elementary STEM initiatives. A record of recent service activities. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship. Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
