Minimum Education/Experience: This position requires Bachelor's Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of relevant experience.

Job Duties: This 12-month, full time position is located in the Office of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology and reports to the Dean. The incumbent assists the College's primary in building and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders, including corporate partners, private foundations, alumni, friends, and a broad array of community and government partners. The incumbent also serves as the College's primary liaison with University Advancement. In these roles, the incumbent will develop engagement strategies and implement action plans that strengthen ties between the College and its external stakeholders for the benefit of students, the College, our stakeholders, and the wider community of eastern North Carolina and beyond. Position Roles and Responsibilities The Director of External Relations and Community Outreach will enhance the engagement and investment of external stakeholders (corporations, foundations, alumni and friends) of the College by: * Working directly with the Dean to align relationship-building and outreach efforts with the College's strategic priorities * Coordinating the dean's travel calendar to maximize opportunities for building relationships with external stakeholders, including prospect cultivation and donor relations, advancement meetings, and travel coordination with central advancement officers * Managing the College's Advancement Council and assisting CET departments in their efforts to launch and sustain their Advisory Boards; ensuring continuity of meeting agendas; developing a long-term strategy for board recruitment, including nominations from the central advancement team * Performing development functions including prospect database management, relationship prioritization, goal-setting and progress tracking, drafting correspondence and communications on behalf of the dean, and facilitating the development of gift agreements * Partnering with University Advancement to develop strategies for increasing philanthropy from individuals, corporations and foundations * Identifying opportunities for alumni/friend engagement in campus events, and building pipelines for engagement of new alumni and friends * Assisting marketing and communications personnel to promote CET people, programs, and activities to corporate, alumni and community partners * Writing briefings for volunteers with event leadership roles * Planning and executing College-wide relationship- and community-building events, including (for example) annual Homecoming activities, annual scholarship and donor recognition events, and alumni recognition events * Attending University Advancement staff meetings and collaborate with University Advancement officers to ensure that College vision, strategic plans and initiatives, and gift opportunities are fully understood and represented * Acting as liaison to the Director of Annual Giving, providing updated appeal messaging as required * Providing operational and programming leadership to Dean's Office for other special events.
