Job Duties: The School of Art and Design at East Carolina University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in animation/interactive design, beginning August 2018. This position will teach 3, three-credit courses per semester within the animation/interactive design concentration of the multidisciplinary BFA in Art. The animation/interactive design concentration prepares students for a variety of professional outcomes ranging from interactive design, game art, animation, to character and game design. The successful candidate will teach in the animation/interactive design area, which may include the theory and practice of interactive design, 3D modeling/animation, 3D printing, and serious game design/advanced learning technologies. The candidate will also collaborate with the Innovation Design Lab (IDL), a facility focused on utilizing human centered design to ignite economic development, located two blocks from Jenkins Fine Arts Center. The IDL is a MakerBot Innovation Center equipped with digital technologies to facilitate rapid prototyping and advanced learning technologies capabilities. Collaborations should connect the IDL to curriculum in the School of Art and Design as well as address the needs of community partnerships; this work may also connect to the candidates' research and creative activity. Collaborations with other faculty within the School of Art and Design are highly encouraged. The successful candidate can build on current collaborations with faculty in multiple divisions across the University. Additional responsibilities include working on curriculum development, participating in faculty committees, and the creation of and/or research regarding animation/ interactive design, and service to the concentration, School, University, community, and profession.
