Job Duties: The Department of Surgery at East Carolina University is seeking a dynamic, academically oriented, fellowship trained orthopedic trauma surgeon to lead the section of orthopedic trauma through a collaborative model between ECU's Brody School of Medicine, Vidant Medical Center and Vidant Medical Group. The successful candidate will be the founding chief of an active, collaborative clinical, teaching and research program, including hand and pediatric orthopedic trauma surgeons. The section chief of orthopedic trauma will work closely with department and hospital leadership to recruit faculty and identify and implement new and advanced orthopedic trauma programs and services, including the eventual development of a fellowship program. This individual will work with the chief of the division of trauma to identify other areas for development, improvement, or expansion based on potential changes in the trauma resource guide from the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons. The chief will serve as medical director of orthopedic trauma surgery to provide administrative and clinical oversight to the program and will serve on appropriate medical staff committees.
