Job Duties: Responsible for compiling and maintaining the North Carolina Periodicals Index, a database containing abstracts of selected articles in periodicals pertaining to NC. The position scans articles in approximately seventy periodicals, chooses articles deemed substantive enough to warrant indexing, writes an abstract of each article, chooses related subject headings, and records all information about the article on a data entry form for entry into the database. Position also provides reference service for all university and community users.
