Primary Function of Organization Unit: Client Solutions provides customer facing IT services and solutions for students, faculty, and staff of NC State University. Services provided include IT Service Management, ServiceNow application development, server and application maintenance and support via the Hosted Services team, development of secure computing environments, cloud computing architecture and design, and desktop support. Our ServiceNow development role is to support, in coordination with other campus consulting groups, the faculty, staff, and students of NC State University in their computing and technology endeavors by focusing on understanding their needs and developing solutions that work for the campus community.
Essential Job Duties: The NCSU ServiceNow Developer is a part of a rapid application development team, building enterprise applications using the Platform as a Service (PaaS) delivery model. The Developer applies practical knowledge of development and engineering to conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software fixes, enhancements, components, and/or new software applications of moderate complexity that may or may not integrate with external systems. The Developer focuses on coding at the component level and works under minimal supervision. The developer is responsible for managing development projects and reporting status of those projects to management. The Developer works in a team atmosphere with absolute transparency.
Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree with nine credit hours in programming and three years of experience in Business Applications Consulting or Development; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Department Required Skills: Must be able to work in a team atmosphere with absolute transparency. Ability to stay on schedule and produce results in a timely manner. Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: ServiceNow Certified Application Developer or Certified Implementation Specialist preferred. ITIL Foundation Certification preferred.
