Essential Job Duties: The Extension Assistant, NC 4-H Camping is a full-time position and is part of a team that manages of overall operations of the North Carolina 4-H Camps and Conference Centers across the state. The Extension Assistant, NC 4-H Camping will be responsible for the following primary duties: *Capital Projects/Facilities Management* * Work with NC State Facilities Units including Capital Project Management and Construction Services on camp facility repairs and renovations as needed, as well as new construction projects * Work with NC State Office of Insurance and Risk Management and Office of the University Fire Marshal on addressing and resolving issues identified in annual fire and safety inspection reports provided by the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) * Work with NC 4-H Center Directors and Facility Maintenance Supervisors on facility related projects, including facility emergencies, repairs, and renovations *Fundraising* * Work with the Associate Director, NC 4-H Development Fund on camp fundraising efforts to provide camperships to youth from limited resource families to be able to attend summer camp, as well as capital improvements in camp infrastructure * Serve as the lead point of contact for all NC 4-H Center's annual signature fundraising events, including On the Dock of the Bay at the Eastern 4-H Center and Pickin' in the Pines at Millstone 4-H Camp * Research, develop, and lead new fundraising initiatives, including online fundraising campaigns such as the Get Moving and Send a Kid to NC 4-H Camp * Work with the NC 4-H Center Directors and teams on identifying fundraising opportunities and developing and implementing new fundraising events and initiatives * Work with the NC 4-H Center Advisory Councils on planning, preparing, and directing the annual signature fundraising events * Assist the Associate Director, NC 4-H Development Fund on identifying and soliciting potential donors for camp funding needs, including camperships and capital improvement projects *Grant Writing/Administration* * Research, develop, and administer grant applications, including but not limited to, Military Teen Adventure Camp * Work with other State 4-H and Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) Program Team members to develop and administer grant funded projects related to camping and youth development * Work with CALS and the University Offices of Contracts and Grants to administer grants specific to camping and youth development * Work with CALS Advancement team to manage contract camps including Camp Corral, as well as new grants including Google Ad grants, The North Face Explore Fund Grant, etc. * Serve as the main point of contact for Camp Corral and lead all Camp Corral functions *Marketing* * Develop, prepare, and execute a comprehensive marketing plan for the North Carolina 4-H Camps & Centers and update the plan as needed * Enhance and improve the brand identity of the North Carolina 4-H Camps & Conference Centers * Enhance and improve the online presence of the NC 4-H Camps through the use of technology * Manage the Camps & Centers web page through the NC State Extension Portal web site and social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, etc. * Manage the annual camp registration process, including communication to 4-H Agents on available camps and manage the online camp registration system website (tentatively 4-H Online) * Work with NC 4-H Center Directors and teams on marketing and outreach efforts, as well as improving camp web sites * Manage the NC 4-H Camps & Centers displays and exhibits at large events including the annual NC State Fair, Dixie Deer Classic, Carolina Parent Camp Fair, etc. * Work with local and state publications to obtain or purchase advertising * Work with the State 4-H & FCS Media Specialist on all internal marketing related projects * Work with the State 4-H & FCS Program Leader and Program Team on implementing and using the 4-H Grows Here campaign to increase summer camp enrollment and program participation * Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications for NC State Extension and the Chief Communications Officer for the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences to ensure brand standards and to tell the story of the North Carolina 4-H Camps & Centers *Training and Development* * Serve as the main point of contact and lead all NC 4-H Camp related training and development workshops for the State 4-H & FCS Program Team, including New Professionals Orientations (NPOs), 4-H & FCS Institutes, State Extension Conference, and 4-H Camping Updates * Work with CALS and University Human Resources on identifying and facilitating training and development initiatives and opportunities for the North Carolina 4-H Centers teams * Coordinate, plan, and facilitate the annual Combined Camp Staff Training during summer camp staff training at the beginning of summer camp season * Work with the 4-H Center Directors and teams to participate in American Camp Association (ACA) regional and national conferences and local professional development opportunities * Assist the 4-H Centers with the ACA re-accreditation processes *State 4-H & FCS Program Team Responsibilities* * Assist the State 4-H & FCS Program Team with state level events and programming including, but not limited to, District Activity Days, Citizenship North Carolina Focus, North Carolina 4-H Congress, National 4-H Congress, etc.

Minimum Education/Experience: Masters Degree in Parks and Recreation, Human Development, Education, Business Management or other similar field OR Bachelors Degree in one of the fields above and at least five years of experience with a combination of capital projects/facilities management, fundraising, grant writing/administration, marketing, and/or training and development for camps and/or youth development.

Department Required Skills: This position also requires skill in organization, word processing/data management, and technology. This position also requires skill in effective written and verbal communication.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Knowledge of 4-H programs and Land Grant University mission, as well as working in a University environment. Experience working with young people in a camp or environmental education setting.

Necessary Licenses and Certifications: * A valid drivers license is required for travel. NC drivers license required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
