Job description

Duties: The Research Specialist A will report to the TCSL Molecular Assay Platform Lead. He/she will process patient clinical samples to DNA and RNA, evaluate the nucleic acids for purity and quantity, and bio-bank this material according to SOPs. He/she will perform qPCR release testing on manufactured cellular products, and qPCR assays to measure persistence of transduced cells in patient samples. In addition, this position will optimize the purification of nucleic acids from formalin fixed, paraffin embedded pathology samples for downstream applications, including a) qPCR, b) qRT-PCR, c) building libraries for RNA-seq and whole exome sequencing, and test in situ gene expression via RNA in situ hybridization. Experience with the Real Time PCR instrumentation, automation and liquid handling equipment preferred. Experience with bioinformatics RNA-seq and WES analysis, including RNA-seq alignment, Cufflinks, and BaseSpace preferred. The position requires careful and precise work and meticulous documentation of samples and procedures performed.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in science field and 0 to 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Strong analytical skills, Strong communication skills and Strong affinity for translational sciences required.
Experience with processing clinical samples to DNA/RNA required. Experience with qPCR assays and DNA/RNA sequencing preferred
