Duties: We are seeking to hire a Clinical Research Coordinator A/B to join a growing research program, BeSAFIR (Behavioral Science and Analytics for Injury Reduction). BeSAFIR is led by M. Kit Delgado, MD, MS in the Center for Emergency Care Policy and Research in the Department of Emergency Medicine with close affiliations with the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics, the Penn Injury Science Center, and the CHOP Center for Injury Research and Prevention.

The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the execution of two randomized control trials under a 3-year cooperative agreement from the Federal Highway Administration that test interventions using behavioral economics and smartphone technology for reducing cellphone use while driving. One study will test the acceptability and effectiveness of individual and group incentives for safe driving in an employer setting. The second trial will evaluate the effectiveness of redesigned auto insurance discounts in the form of financial incentives based on smartphone monitored phone use and driving behaviors. The studies will use the Way to Health platform (, so familiarity with the platform is preferred but not required. The person in this position will also help with the coordination of other pilot studies or investigator initiated trials related to injury prevention including strategies for reducing drinking and driving and overprescribing of opioids.

Duties for a Clinical Research Coordinator A include a variety of research and administrative tasks, such as regulatory document preparation and submission; screening and assessing for study eligibility; enrolling and randomizing study participants; data management; communication with outside partners; preparation of sponsor reports, and other miscellaneous tasks as needed. This position also includes management of retention - scheduling, preparation and documentation of all follow-up activities.

In addition to the duties listed above, the Clinical Research Coordinator B will also be responsible for providing on-site supervision to student workers and research assistants, independently prepare and submit regulatory and sponsor documentation, edit study materials, and work with research partners to solve problems and develop strategies to meet study objectives.

The ideal candidates will have the ability to handle a variety of clinical trial related tasks including the planning and implementation of recruitment and retention activities, managing all aspects of study participant visits, and monitoring the performance of external study sites in accordance with University of Pennsylvania. Qualifications: The Clinical Research Coordinator A position requires a Bachelor's Degree with 1 to 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Ideal candidate will have clinical research experience with diverse populations; an understanding of injury prevention; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; experience managing data; and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely fashion.

The Clinical Research Coordinator B position requires a Bachelor's Degree with 2-4 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have the skills listed above, as well as experience with employee supervision and retention, regulatory and sponsor documentation, and collaboration with research partners.
