Northeastern University seeks an Associate Director to join the Academic Assessment Group (AAG). As part of the Teaching and Learning Group, the AAG works with the Provost's Office to design and implement assessment protocols for institutional initiatives and university-wide curricula. The person filling this position will work closely with the Director of AAG to continue to advance the culture of assessment at Northeastern University.

The Associate Director will work with faculty members, department chairs, program Directors, and senior leaders to advise and provide expertise in documenting current students' and graduates' educational and professional experiences. This will involve planning and implementing meaningful assessments across multiple learning environments to ensure that the assessment results inform improvements to advance student learning. The position will require use of “traditional” quantitative and qualitative methods as well as innovative (e.g. creative mixed methods, use of analytics) approaches to assess student learning and success.

The successful candidate will provide development opportunities (i.e., workshops, seminars) for colleagues around the university involved in assessment. The Associate Director will also support grant and research work to advance teaching and learning both at the university and in higher education more broadly.


- Master’s Degree in social sciences from an accredited institution
- Minimum 2-years of experience with institutional assessment activities in higher education
- Experience with the design and implementation of various assessments at institutional and programmatic levels, and reporting those results to multiple audiences and stakeholders
- Experience working with faculty members from various disciplines with the creation and/or development of learning outcomes, assessment plans, and the implementation of those assessment plans
- Extensive knowledge regarding quantitative and qualitative research methods, including research design, process implementation, data analysis
- Experience with collaborating with and presenting to members of senior leadership
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple, ongoing projects where accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness are essential
- Microsoft Office Suite

- Ph.D. in social sciences from an accredited institution
o Academic publications through blind peer review processes
o National and/or international conference presentations
- Was/is a faculty member who has/had teaching, research, and committee responsibilities
- Experience with data science, specifically use of data analytics to inform assessment
- Experience with regional accreditation processes
- Some knowledge about learning sciences and SoTL
- Proficiency with SPSS, Qualtrics, NVivo
