Mathematics Tenure Track Faculty Position
The Department of Mathematics at Kutztown University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in the fall semester of 2018. The position involves teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate Mathematics and Statistics courses, with a regular annual teaching load of 24 credits, and contributing to the diversity and excellence of our academic community through research and service. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service.
Required: A doctorate in Statistics or a closely related field with substantial work in statistics must be conferred by 8/18/18. Applicants are required to have skills and background with modern statistical software. Applicants should have demonstrated excellence in teaching, a record of, or a strong potential for, scholarship and a desire to direct undergraduate research. Additional desirable qualities include the potential to expand our offerings and degree programs on both the undergraduate and graduate levels and relevant non-academic experience.
As part of their application, applicants must submit: a letter of interest, an AMS cover sheet, a current curriculum vitae (including a list of presentations and publications), a research plan, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, a statement of teaching philosophy, and at least three letters of recommendation written within the past year, at least two of which address the candidate’s teaching. Prospective candidates may be contacted informally during the Joint Mathematics Meetings (JMM) or through Skype. Please indicate if you plan to attend the JMM. We plan to start on-campus interviews in January 2018. Applicants invited to interview will give a 30-40 minute talk related to their research which is accessible to a typical undergraduate student.
