Position Summary: 1) Provide data management, programming, and analyses in support of epidemiological research across multiple projects and principal investigators. - The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students on a wide variety of epidemiological research projects. The candidate will be responsible for managing all IT facets in multiple, concurrent projects, including designing, developing, loading, cleaning, merging, and documenting large and complex data files and databases, creating SAS analytical data sets per faculty and student instructions, and performing SAS statistical analyses. 2) Supervise the Epidemiology Department Applications Specialists, Applications Analysts, and IT Support Specialists. - The successful candidate will supervise the Department IT professional staff of programmers and support personnel, and serve on the Department administrative team, reporting directly to the Department Chair. While the programming duties will fluctuate depending upon project funding, it is expected to be a majority role.

Education Requirements: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development; or Bachelor degree with some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in business applications consulting or development; or - Associate degree in computer programming and three years of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Journey level requires an additional one year of experience - Advanced level requires an additional two years of experience.

Qualification and Experience: Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required skills include: - SAS proficiency - Experience with basic statistical analyses - Previous experience in a leadership role - Previous work experience dealing with large data files - Demonstrated ability to work independently with only general guidelines and little supervision - Strong project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently - Exceptional interpersonal and professional communications skills. Must be comfortable working closely with administrators, faculty, staff, and students. Preferred Qualifications Preferred skills include: - Minimum of five years of SAS coding experience in a work environment - Previous management experience in a supervisory role - Experience with epidemiological research data - Experience with advanced statistical analyses - Experience leading all IT components of complex research projects - Knowledge of or previous experience with relational databases - Experience with REDCap data collection software - Knowledge of data security best practices - Graduate education in computer science, biostatistics, MPH, or similar degree
