Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has launched The Arch at Rensselaer. (

The Arch provides a full on-campus summer semester after the student’s sophomore year, with a subsequent semester away during the fall or spring of the student’s junior year. The summer semester provides an opportunity for increased student/faculty interaction, critical skills in the student’s field, and a host of co-curricular activities that build affinity and life skills. 

The Director of Summer Academic Programs leads the development and implementation of a full spectrum of academic offerings (curricular and co-curricular) in the summer, with a focus on Arch students. The Director coordinates Arch programming between academic Departments and other campus departments and offices. Arch programming includes academic offerings as well as co-curricular field trips and programs. The Director also provides technical support, in the form of relational database activities, report development, and website maintenance, for the assessment of teaching and learning bother during the academic year and during the summer.

We seek candidates with five (5) or more years of experience in a higher education setting within academic student services or student affairs. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional project management and organizational skills, and have a history of successful cross-functional collaborations. The position requires experience in planning the logistical details of a complex set of programs. Candidates must be proficient in the use of computing technology, such as MS Office Suite, Google Docs, relational database reporting tools, and standard website maintenance tools. Familiarity with tools such as SQL, HTML and/or Drupal is helpful. Candidates must be strong communicators, verbally and in writing, and be committed to providing tireless customer service. A bachelor’s degree is required.
