Job description

Duties: A position is opening January 2018 for a motivated and detail oriented individual looking for a position as a Research Specialist D. The specialist will use Drosophila as a model for viral infection; design, develop and perform specific assays including bacterial monassociation, viral feeding, gut dissections, RNA extractions and quantitative PCR. The specialist will oversee a screening project involving these techniques using aged flies and will be responsible for training and managing others who are assisting in the project. The specialist will be required to work independently to analyze and interpret results and must also possess the necessary troubleshooting skills in order to solve any technical issues.

Qualifications: A Master's degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. In addition to a sound, practical understanding of genetic, biochemical, and/or molecular biology approaches the optimal candidate would also display an eagerness to work as part of a team and to provide both intellectual and technical input to their own projects.
