WEB EDITOR/ASST EDITOR
Duties: The incumbent will be part of a small team responsible for producing Almanac, the University's journal of record. The incumbent will edit, proofread, fact-check, and write copy for the weekly publication. S/he will prepare the monthly AT PENN calendar, including soliciting and compiling information, typesetting and laying-out the calendar, and posting it to the website. S/he will also be responsible for production of the weekly crime report. S/he will assist in preparing the weekly publication for print and digital publication and will be responsible for ensuring that regular issues and special editions are posted in a timely manner. S/he will ensure that the website is up-to-date, track website utilization, prepare weekly email messages to subscribes, and occasionally post breaking news to the website. S/he will also assist with print publication, manage distribution, maintain databases, and produce mailing labels for campus and external distribution. She/he will also perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Proficiency using a CMS and knowledge of Filemaker Pro or other database management software is essential. Experience and proficiency in MacOS, HTML within Dreamweaver, SCC, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office are strongly preferred. Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work on multiple projects as part of a small team, to prioritize time and tasks, adhere to project deadlines, and work with limited supervision in a deadline-driven environment. Flexible and able to work extended hours when necessary to meet the publication deadlines. Familiarity with Penn or other institution of higher education is desired.
