Essential Job Duties: NC State University is seeking an energetic and innovative leader for the position of Director of Wellness in the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. We seek an individual with proven leadership experience capable of working as part of a fast-paced, results-oriented team. This new position will work in collaboration with our campus partners to provide visionary and strategic leadership for an innovative, integrated, and collaborative wellness model for the NC State University community. Reporting to the Executive Director, Wellness and Recreation, the Director of Wellness collaborates with campus partners to plan, implement, and evaluate campus community health and wellness strategies, interventions, policies, programs, and services that promote a thriving community. Specific responsibilities include: * Serve as a champion and ambassador for wellness at the campus, state, and national levels * Create and maintain a culture and environment that supports and promotes the overall wellness of the NC State community * Work collaboratively with campus partners and community organizations to form strong relationships designed to establish a long-term vision for wellness * Coordinate the development of an NC State Wellness Strategic Plan * Conduct analyses to determine approaches, trends, and best practices related to evidence-based university wellness initiatives and programs * Lead campus referral process that integrates student care connecting NC State Wellness and Recreation to Student Health Services, Counseling Center, Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention and Education, and other student support services. * Lead an innovative and growing collegiate fitness program that includes group fitness, personal training, small group training, fitness assessment, lifestyle modification programs, fitness special events, and fitness center staffing and management * Provide leadership for student wellness coaching, Wood Wellness Village living and learning community, lifestyle modification programs, wellness education sessions, and special events * Train and supervise two full-time professional staff; indirectly supervise three full-time professional staff and approximately 150 student staff; and ensure all staff provide the highest level of customer service * Develop strategies to increase physical activity and movement on campus through activating classrooms and meeting spaces with fitness-related equipment

Minimum Education/Experience: * Master's Degree in public health, health education, or a related field from an accredited institution * At least three years of full-time professional experience with campus wellness programming planning and implementation * At least seven years professionally related experience

Department Required Skills: * Demonstrated ability to collaborate, develop partnerships and work effectively as a member of a fast-paced, results-oriented team * Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking * Demonstrated knowledge of national trends and best practices in health and wellness programming * Demonstrated knowledge of theories and practices in promoting student development and learning * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Demonstrated experience organizing and developing leaders through practical application and learning * Demonstrated success managing, supervising, and mentoring student employees * Demonstrated integrity, ethics, and commitment to diversity and inclusion * Commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Experience preferred leading teams and/or managing staff and students * Certified Health Education Specialist * National fitness certification from American Council on Exercise (ACE), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)

Necessary Licenses and Certifications: * Certified Health Coach (American Council on Exercise, American College of Sports Medicine, WELCOA, etc.) or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire; OR * Certified Wellness Practitioner (National Wellness Institute) or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
