Posting Summary:
The Data Science Institute at the University of Virginia seeks a Wikimedian in Residence to design programs, lead workshops, consult, and organize outreach activities and events in order to: raise awareness across the institution of the value of Wikimedia platforms; increase UVA's presence across Wikimedia platforms; further UVA's objectives with regards to data literacy, with a special focus on open data; and help evaluate the impact of these efforts on UVA's open data initiatives.

The primary focus of the position will be instruction of faculty, staff and students in the integration and curation of UVA data into Wikimedia platforms. This position may work with the Library to integrate Wikimedia platforms into its scholarly repository service environment as appropriate and will foster collaborations with UVA research projects across a range of disciplines in support of Wikimedia platforms for open knowledge.

Successful candidates will hold a master's degree and will have at least one year of experience contributing to Wikimedia projects, especially Wikipedia and Wikidata, teaching experience, including designing effective technical training and creating written documentation, and experience working in an academic environment. This is a full time, one year limited term assignment.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Fluency in English
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
-Basic knowledge of data science
-Deep understanding of research methods and curriculum design in any discipline, preferably a data-oriented one
-Basic programming skills, preferably Python or R
-Understanding of metadata
-Excellent organizational skills
