Duties: Penn's Graduate School of Education, one of the top ranked schools of education in the nation, has an opportunity for a Financial Administrator to join a team of 2 Financial Administrative Coordinators and 1 Administrative Assistant with the School's Business Office, under the guidance and management of the Assistant Director of Fiscal Operations. The Business Office supports the academic mission and programmatic goals of the School by providing the highest level of customer service, both financial and operational, to all faculty, staff and students.

The Financial Administrator acts as an integral position to the financial function of the Graduate School of Education's Business Office. This position is responsible for reviewing, approving, processing, tracking and reconciling Concur expense reports, purchase orders, journal entries, individual service and vendor payments, as well as Purchasing Card activity, for all GSE departments, including unrestricted funding and grant funding. Prior to approving, research transactions, ensure compliance to procurement policies and verify appropriate account is charged. Assist GSE leadership in classifying independent contractors (non-affiliates), answer clarifying questions and troubleshoot issues. Research stale checks, wayward transactions, encumbrances, etc.. Generate and review reports and research as needed. Assist in closing process. Provide customer service support and advise on applicable policy and procedure. Train school faculty/staff on financial platforms. Provide backup support for 2 other staff positions as needed.

The Financial Administrator should also feel comfortable in providing ideas and suggestions to become more successful and efficient as an operational unit.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Strong financial and accounting skills along with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite are required. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills required. Candidate must be able to make sound independent judgement decisions. Ability to exercise discretion in working with confidential and/or sensitive data and material is required.

Experience with Qlikview software, BEN Financials, Business Objects/Oracle and Penn Purchasing Systems preferred, but will train outstanding candidates for this position. Prior knowledge of the University's policies and procedures is a plus.

Must be comfortable working in a collaborative team environment while also functioning independently on day-to-day tasks.
