Position Summary: The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at The University of North Carolina invites applications for a Fixed Term Faculty position at the Research Assistant Professor level to serve as the Facility Manager for the UNC Biomolecular NMR Core Facility. The facility houses four Bruker Avance III HD solution-state spectrometers each with a cryoprobe. The Facility Manager will be responsible for maintenance and day-to-day operation of all NMR spectrometers, including user schedules, cryogen refills, software upgrades, instrument calibrations, spectrometer troubleshooting, and on-site hardware repair. The Facility Manager will provide all aspects of technical and educational support for heavily used and critical solution-state NMR applications, including acquiring and interpreting multidimensional NMR spectra, implementing new experimental techniques, teaching NMR courses, and providing technical training to both academic and industrial researchers. In addition, the Facility Manager will be required to recruit new users, develop research collaborations, and lead instrument acquisitions.

Education Requirements: The applicant should have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics or related discipline.
Qualification and Experience: Applicants must have extensive experience in biomolecular NMR, strong background in pulse sequence programming, and advanced knowledge of Linux and system administration. Additional experience in small molecule applications is a plus. The applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of researchers with varying backgrounds and interests.
