Job Summary Senior Research Associate (SRA) will overview the RKN gene identification and introgression project. Major responsibilities will be to use advanced next generation sequencing technologies to identify genes involved in various biochemical pathways that together provide resistance against root knot nematode (RKN) in cotton. Identified genes will be validated by targeted genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 system. Resistant genes will be pyramided into elite cotton germplasm lines to develop RKN resistant cultivars best suited for cultivating in south-eastern US. Along with these major duties SRA will be responsible for project related activities in the greenhouse, present research finding at international meetings, publish data in peer reviewed journals and provide guidance to graduate students/visiting scholars. SRA is also expected to coordinate with major PI in proposal writing for obtaining grants. Minimum Qualifications PhD or other terminal degree in related field is required. Position requires a substantial postdoctoral training period, at this or another institution.
