Position Summary: Teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs in public relations and conducting an active program of research and scholarly activity.

Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The Department of Advertising and Public Relations in the College of Communication and Information Sciences is seeking an outstanding individual to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in our nationally recognized public relations program. Applicants must demonstrate strong potential to establish and maintain a scholarly research program. Because our departmental mission is to "shape the future of global public relations and advertising," we welcome diverse research perspectives and leadership-focused thinking. Once hired, this faculty member will be expected to teach in the department's curriculum. UA is a student-centered research university. Thus, it is preferred that candidates have prior teaching experience and are able to successfully engage students in the classroom. Applicants must display an ability to be an active and involved member of a highly collaborative faculty team. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate by the time of appointment, the ability to teach PR writing, management, and campaigns, and expertise in one or more areas of the following areas: digital communication management, nonprofit communication management, crisis communication, sports and entertainment communication management. A focus of his/her scholarly agenda should be digital media. The ability to help integrate digital media elements and teaching into the APR curriculum is a plus as is the ability to teach PR writing, management, and campaigns. Opportunities exist for teaching in the department's integrated M.A. program, the college's interdisciplinary mass communication curriculum, as well as in the college's doctoral program. An earned doctorate or other terminal degree in mass communication or related discipline must be completed prior to the start date. Applicants must demonstrate high potential to establish a scholarly research program, as well as success in teaching and/or as a professional public relations practitioner.
