EVENING & WEEKEND SUPERVISOR
Duties: Reporting to the Museum Librarian, the Evening & Weekend Supervisor is responsible for general supervision of the Museum Library during assigned hours. The primary responsibilities include opening or closing the library during weekend or evening hours, overseeing the Circulation/Reserve Desk, and assisting with the training and supervision of student workers. Tasks include answering basic questions from patrons, resolving patron problems, assigning study carrels, providing basic assistance with library-provided computers, copiers, printer, and scanners, maintaining the stacks, and preparing materials for shipment for storage, repairs and rebinding. This position is also responsible for processing electronic reserve requests submitted by faculty and has some pre- and post-cataloging responsibilities as needed.
This is a part-time, 20 hours/week position with an evening/weekend schedule. Position hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5:00-9:00pm and Saturday, Sunday 10:00am-2:00pm during the University's fall and spring terms. During winter intercession and summer break the hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 1:00-5:00pm and Wednesday 4:00-8:00pm, because of the library's reduced operating hours.
Qualifications: -High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
-Strong service orientation and demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues and the public.
-Familiarity with library operations, automated library systems, and computer proficiency.
-Good communication and customer service skills, good judgment, and the ability to work independently and under pressure in a rapidly changing multi-task environment. -Attention to detail and dependability.
-General familiarity with subject matter of anthropology and archaeology preferred.
