Position Summary: The Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama is seeking a faculty researcher to align with our university's Cyber Institute, which is dedicated to excellence in large scale data analytics and cyber security. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and an established program of funded research and publications with expertise in informatics, data analytics, simulation, or other aspects of healthcare technology. The primary responsibilities of this faculty member will be conducting funded research, mentoring junior faculty and students, and collaborating with other members of the Cyber Institute team. The Cyber Institute is one of three new Interprofessional Research Institutes recently established at our university. A new $5 million endowment gift to the Cyber Institute is providing additional support for these high priority programs. The Capstone College of Nursing has over 2,400 students enrolled in programs leading to BSN, MSN, DNP, and EdD degrees. At the MSN level, we offer concentrations for Case Managers, Clinical Nurse Leaders, Nurse Administrators, and Nurse Practitioners. Our interdisciplinary EdD program is designed specifically for nurse educators and is jointly taught by faculty with expertise in nursing and education. A new PhD program is currently in development.
Minimum Preferred Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field, five years of academic experience, recent extramural grant funding, and be eligible for licensure in Alabama. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in a PhD program. Applicants are encouraged to submit a cover letter addressing their research and teaching experience and future goals along with a current curriculum vitae. Prior to employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment background investigation. Position could begin as early as January 1, 2018.
