Position Summary: RESEARCH INSTRUCTOR. This position will primarily involve the conduct of novel clinical research studies in patients with congestive heart failure. The position will require extensive effort in the screening and enrollment of patients in a variety of research trials. The focus will be on outpatient and inpatient research involving cutting edge investigative therapies for acute heart failure. We are seeking a nurse practitioner with previous clinical cardiovascular experience. Prior experience in cardiovascular clinical trials is strongly preferred. A limited amount of off-hour work may be required each month. The applicant will join a well-established clinical investigative group with extensive prior experience and well-established methods related to heart failure research including all aspects of design, implementation, conduct and publication of clinical studies. Previous work has involved not only drug development studies but also the study of other therapeutic modalities for heart failure. A major current interest of our group involves the potential role of biomarkers in guiding therapy for heart failure and the study of pharmacogenomics interactions that may impact heart failure care. Our group is very active in the clinical care of patients with heart failure. This position will also involve working as part of our outpatient clinic team in the chronic care of patients with heart failure. Specific duties of this position will involve the following activities: 1) Extensive screening and recruitment efforts related to identifying and enrolling potential patients in clinical heart failure research studies. 2) Careful conduct of heart failure clinical research protocols. 3) Extensive documentation, both electronic and written, of research work. 4) Multitasking work efforts to achieve overall research goals. 5) Clinical evaluation and management of patients with heart failure.

Education Requirements: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, completion of a Nurse Practitioner program approved by the North Carolina Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners, and "approved to practice medical acts" by the Joint Subcommittee.

Qualification and Experience: Nurse Practitioner with previous clinical cardiovascular experience. Prior experience in cardiovascular clinical trials is strongly preferred.
