Primary Function of Organization Unit: The primary function of the Southeast Regional Manufacturing Center (SERMC) is to lead regional activities of the Clean-Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute, including member recruitment, services, and training as well as outreach and satisfying Department of Energy (DOE)-mandated administrative, fiscal, and reporting requirements.

Essential Job Duties: This position provides leadership to the Center's clients in the implementation of Smart Manufacturing (SM) technologies within their manufacturing environments. The Practice Leader will consult with Center clients to elicit needs, identify requirements, make recommendations to satisfy those requirements, create plans and programs to integrate/implement smart manufacturing within their enterprises. Serve as the SM subject-matter expert in the development of test beds to satisfy SM development needs. Develop content and train other SM Practitioners and SM Trainers in the implementation and integration process. Assist the Regional Director and Deputy Director in the Institute's Strategic Road mapping process. Essential functions of the position will include but are not limited to: 1. Consult with Center clients in the development of needs, requirements and implementations of SM technologies within their enterprise. 2. Develop and deliver training courses for Center's client SM Practitioners in the assessment and integration of SM technologies into their enterprises. 3. Work with Center clients to develop test bed projects to satisfy SM Development needs. 4. Assist in the development of strategic plans based upon center client needs at both the Center and Institute level. 5. Assist in the development and execution of outreach activities for the Center and the Institute. 6. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience: M.S. in. Electrical, Computer or Chemical Engineering or Computer Science, or other appropriate technical field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical or manufacturing environment is required.

Department Required Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to facilitate teamwork, ability to work well in a collegial relationship, high level of independence and initiative, and ability to multi-task. Will require certification as a Smart Manufacturing Integrator within 1 year of employment.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: PhD Preferred. Two years experience in Implementation of IT systems for manufacturing or control systems Training delivery and curriculum development experience is desired. Consulting experience is desired..
