Primary Function of Organization Unit: The primary function of the Southeast Regional Manufacturing Center (SERMC) is to lead regional activities of the Clean-Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII), including member recruitment, services, and training as well as outreach and satisfying Department of Energy (DOE)-mandated administrative, fiscal, and reporting requirements.

Essential Job Duties: This position will provide operational leadership and control for CESMII's Southeast Regional Manufacturing Center (SERMC). Assist the Center Director in providing strategic vision and participating in the Institute's strategic roadmapping process. Execute the strategic vision as defined by the Center Director and the Institute. Supervise Center personnel. Provide services to CESMII members, including aiding development of successful testbed proposals and contracts and managing their execution. With the Director and Administrator, develop Center membership and direct Center outreach activities. Represent the Regional Director as required. Essential duties will include but are not limited to: 1. Supervise the Regional Manufacturing Center (RMC) personnel and manage their activities to provide basic and extended services of the Institute. 2. Develop and manage RMC projects and test beds. 3. Execute Regional components of the Institute Strategic Planning Process and help lead training/workshop activities. 4. With the Regional Director, develop regional membership development strategies and outreach programs. 5. Represent the RMC and Regional Director as required. 6. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience: An appropriate doctoral or master's degree in technical field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. A minimum of 6 years relevant professional experience and reputation in a technical or manufacturing environment. Supervisory experience is required.

Department Required Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to facilitate teamwork, ability to work well in a collegial relationship, high level of independence and initiative, and ability to multi-task.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: PhD is preferred. Strong preference for candidates with at least 4 years handling research administration, development, and funding activities as a PI. Professional engineering registration is desirable.
