Job description

Duties: The Deputy Executive Director of Fox/Director for Data Science of PORES is responsible for recruiting and supervising undergraduate, graduate, and alumni Fox-PORES fellows; developing and offering Fox-PORES undergraduate training/courses in the data sciences and election sciences; leading PORES research projects including contributing to collaborative projects between PORES and other Penn and non-Penn PORES partner organizations; and providing statistical and programing support to PORES faculty and staff.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of experience using data analysis tools and databases or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Ph.D. is strongly preferred. Advanced formal training in statistics and the data sciences and advanced programming skills in the R programming language, and experience managing large-scale research projects in election outcomes and administration is required. Experience teaching students the R programming language with the ability to draw upon applied examples of elections and election administration is required. Proficiency in Python and Stata is preferred. The ideal candidate would combine a demonstrated commitment to serving students, including but not limited to successful teaching experience in statistics and the data sciences and have experience in producing professional reports on elections for funding organizations. Occasional travel to New York and Washington D.C. is required.
