Primary Function of Organization Unit: Materials Management Department is a Finance Division business services organization offering support services to campus departments through: the Purchasing Department, Surplus Property Office, Warehouse Operations, and WolfCopy. The Purchasing Department, by delegated authority from the State of North Carolina, Division of Purchase and Contract, is responsible for the procurement of all goods and services not exceeding the University delegated spending limit. The administrative function of the department is to assure that the university faculty and staff adhere to proper and legal methods of procurement by processing departmental purchases and payments in accordance with State of North Carolina legislative statutes, State Department of Administration policies, UNC General Administration guidelines and NC State University spending guidelines. The Materials Management Department warehouse operation offers short & long-term storage solutions to campus departments. In addition, the warehouse operations team offers central receiving and redelivery services for campus departments. The NC State Surplus Property operation processes the disposition of surplus property according to the statutes and guidelines of the State of North Carolina Department of Administration. Internal and public sales of surplus property are conducted regularly. The warehouse recycling operation facilitates landfill diversion for surplus property items that cannot be repurposed. The WolfCopy operation provides campus departments with a variety of comprehensive systems for print/copy/scan services. The wide range of multi-functional printers, copiers, and wide format printers (plotters) allows WolfCopy to meet all department printing needs. WolfCopy also services student print/copy/scan services across campus.

Essential Job Duties: The Education and Outreach Manager, reporting to the Director of Materials Management will establish a new program area within the Materials Management Department (MMD). Many of the campus services offered by MMD must compete with large commercial enterprises. This new program area managed by this position introduces campus stakeholders to MMD business service offerings by developing outreach and educational opportunities aimed at engaging university faculty and staff. The MMD business services span a broad range that includes university-wide managed print services, procurement and contract review services, warehouse space leasing opportunities, innovative supplier payment solutions, and interior design services. Program goals will address communication of the benefits of MMD business service offerings to the university faculty and staff. The mufti-faceted purpose of this new program area will be to develop and deliver education and outreach materials, conduct training and marketing sessions, and explore new communication channels and innovative marketing programs designed to persuade university faculty and staff to use MMD business services. Responsibilities include: - Develop and implement an annual strategic marketing and communication plan to inform and educate campus community about MMD business services. - Develop and deliver training materials, classroom session content and on-demand training videos utilizing adult learning methods. - Conduct workshops, presentations, and discussions on a variety of MMD business services topics. - Responsible for developing and implementing all outreach and marketing activities, campaigns, and strategies to promote MMD business services, through a combination of personal contacts, brochures, mass mailings, public presentations, special events, the social media, etc. - Educate and lead the university administrative, academic and business communities through enhancements to MMD business services. - Serve as spokesperson for all the MMD business service offerings at meetings, special events, and media opportunities. - Take actions necessary to become and remain knowledgeable of university business practices, procedures and principles. - Develop instructional programming and special events that support and promote the MMD business services offered to university departments. - Develop and administer training and outreach assessment tools. - Act as MMD liaison to the Finance Division office in all matters pertaining to faculty and staff educational projects. - Develop and ensure the completion of quarterly program metric reports required at the department and division levels. - Assign the work, assess the performance, and provide feedback and technical supervision for direct reports. - Develop content and supervise the maintenance of MMD website pages. - Develop and manage an effective social media program.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: - Possess knowledge of marketing principles to develop and implement strategies to promote MMD business services. - Demonstrated skills in effective management, supervision and team building. - Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with direct reports, peers, supervisors, other university personnel and the public. - Ability to instruct and coach staff in best practices. - Knowledge of strategies and tactics used to develop and maintain strategic relationships. - Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including writing, listening and public speaking skills. - Ability to effectively prepare and present information to various groups. - Possesses strong leadership and interpersonal skills including attention to detail, delegation and time management skills. - Two to four years of successful sales, marketing and/or promotional planning experience. - Experience with project management best practices and software tools. - Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure, to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and to adjust to changing priorities.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: -Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing/ Advertising, Business or Public Administration -Master's degree a plus. -Two to five years of increasingly responsible relevant work experience - Experience working in higher education is desirable. - Two to four years of successful supervisory experience of professional staff.
