Job Summary The University of Georgia Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) is seeking qualified candidates for a Network Administrator Specialist position in Network Engineering. This position will work as part of a team responsible for the delivery and support of mission critical advanced network technologies to an 80K+ node local campus and extended campuses across the state. The strongest candidates for this position will have a combination of network and system administration experience in an enterprise environment. This position will focus on system level network management design, implementation and administration. Candidates will need to demonstrate function experience in the network management areas of fault configuration, accounting, performance, and security. In addition, strong candidate will need to possess skills scripting, possess excellent communication skills, and have the ability to work as a member of a team of dedicated professionals. Typical responsibilities: - Manage and administer various network management applications - Ability to operate LAN routers and switches - Develop processes to ensure best practices for network management and monitoring areas including: * Fault management * Configuration management * System patching * Accounting and Auditing * Performance management * Security management -Ability to script and write code as necessary - Performing emergency troubleshooting and problem resolution, including after hours response as part of a team on call 24x7x365. - Develop and maintain written documentation for planning of maintenance actions. - Working as part of a team without close supervision.
