Responsibilities include: * Teach general education undergraduate courses in teaching and assessing mathematics OR science OR social studies as well as general elementary education pedagogy for the Multiple Abilities Program * Teach graduate courses * Maintain an active research/publication record and external funding agenda * Direct student research, theses, and dissertations * Serve on student and faculty committees * Advise students * Collaborate in further development of innovative undergraduate and graduate programs * Collaborate with local schools and school systems * Provide service within the University, to state and local education agencies, and to relevant professional organizations Minimum Qualifications: * Earned doctorate in Elementary General Education or closely related field * Minimum 2 years full-time K-6 general elementary education classroom teaching experience * Ability to pursue a research agenda and external funding with evidence of scholarly potential * Expertise in and ability to teach courses in at least one of the following: 1) K-6 methods of teaching mathematics or 2) K-6 methods of teaching science or 3) K-6 methods of teaching social studies * Demonstrated commitment to diversity * Demonstrated success working in collaborative settings Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to teach general education pedagogy and additional content areas (must have expertise in math, science, or social studies, but prefer ability to teach multiple content areas) * Experience with diverse school contexts * Ability to integrate technology into instruction including web-assisted and other alternative delivery models Further information about the program and college is accessible at www.education.ua.edu.
