ASSISTANT EDITOR

Job description

Duties: The primary purpose of the position of Assistant Editor is to assemble Penn Today, the daily news website and companion newsletter, run out of University Communications. The position exists to facilitate timely dissemination of content, whether through the newsletter or website, and ensure that the office is generating content consistent with institutional priorities.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 2 years to 3 years of experience in writing, journalism, publications, graphic design, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Demonstrated skill in writing and proofreading, and familiarity with Photoshop and content management systems required. Must be comfortable working on tight deadlines and meeting the requirements of a daily publication schedule. Knowledge of design programs, photography, project management tools (such as Wrike), and MailChimp skills preferred. Ability to work with teams and collaborate with staff while also working independently, and excellent time management and organizational skills desirable.
