Duties: The Data Analyst will be responsible for designing and developing interactive information dashboards for External Affairs staff, developing or implementing statistical models for analysis of alumni data, and providing leadership in the areas of end-user training, dashboard creation, modeling, and data management technology.
For designing and developing interactive dashboards, the Data Analyst will interview users to isolate Key Performance Indicators [KPIs] and identify key questions users need data-driven answers for. The analyst will pull the appropriate data via SQL / R and utilize Qlikview and other dashboarding tools (Tableau, Shiny). Once the dashboard is made available, the Analyst will provide end-user training and ongoing support, upgrades, and additional improvements of each dashboard as needs evolve.

S/he will design, code, test, and document reports using SQL, Crystal Reports, and BusinessObjects and will create, track, and maintain an online reports library. S/he will respond in a timely manner to ad-hoc requests, and will document and maintain tasks in online ticketing system. Work both independently, and as part of a team.
For developing or implementing statistical models, the Data Analyst will use standard statistical methods and tools including, but not limited to simple summary statistics and linear regression. S/he will identify opportunities to implement models, and either develop them her-/him-self or work with Penn / DAR statistical experts to create these models. S/he will then work to integrate these models into both operational reports and interactive dashboards.
For providing technology leadership, the Data Analyst will provide expertise to the WHEA Data Team staff and end-users on dashboard, statistical analysis, and data management best practices. S/he will promote WHEA, Wharton, and Penn as a leader in alumni/development data analytics. The Analyst will keep abreast of new trends, new technology, and best practices in our field.
