Primary Function of Organization Unit: Founded in 1966, the Center of Urban Affairs and Community Services (CUACS) extends the social, economic, and educational research capabilities of NC State University to governmental and community agencies. The Center operates under a mandate to provide research and technical assistance to state and local government as well as to the faculty and staff of NC State. CUACS collaborates in areas of mutual interest with state agencies to support issues of high priority.

Essential Job Duties: Serve as systems analyst and programmer (PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, XML, CSS, HTML, Apache, Moodle, etc.), manage data analysis, designs/produces/maintains comprehensive software and data processing systems that distribute, collect, verify, analyze and report project data. Work on various application development projects as needed.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: Must be proficient in Web application development and maintenance using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, database integration, and other application development languages/tools. Knowledge of Laravel Framework advantageous. Thorough knowledge of computer systems, data analysis, data management and programming techniques. Comprehensive ability to apply research design and data collection/analysis techniques to assure the reporting of valid research results is essential.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university with nine semester hours in programming and one year of experience in business application development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
