Primary Function of Organization Unit: College of Humanities and Social Sciences Business Services, a division of the Dean's Office provides direction and support related to strategic direction and support related to strategic resource planning and implementation, resource projection and analysis, budgetary allocation, organization development, performance management, financial expertise and processes, and human resource expertise and processes. The Financial Services Team provides expertise in financial management, develops policies, and manages processes for procurement (MarketPlace, procurement cards, requisitions, purchasing contracts, independent contractors), payables (awards, vouchers, honoraria payments, personal reimbursements), travel (authorizations and reimbursements), structure (OUCs, projects and phases), accounting and compliance (reconciliation, journal vouchers, interdepartmental transfers, account codes), receivables (eStores, billing, deposits), funding source capabilities (state appropriations, summer receipts, trust funds, appropriated receipts, enhancement, agency), financial access (SARs, travel approval setup, financial workflow), fiscal closeout (appropriations and receipts), and financial reporting.

Essential Job Duties: The Accounting Technician serves as one of three team members in CHASS Business Services/ Financial Services Team with primary responsibility for assigned departments and units, also responsible as a backup for all other departments or units when called upon. Duties and responsbilities include but are not limited to: Provides expertise in financial management, develops policies, and manages processes for procurement (MarketPlace, purchasing cards, requisitions), payables (awards, vouchers, honoraria payments, personal reimbursements), travel (authorizations and reimbursements), accounting and compliance (reconciliation, journal vouchers, interdepartmental transfers, account codes), receivables (billing and deposits), and funding source capabilities (state appropriations, summer receipts, trust funds, appropriated receipts, enhancement, and agency), financial access (travel approval setup).

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: * Financial experience in an academic setting including knowledge of state and university policies and procedures. * Experience with processing and approving transactions in PeopleSoft Financials or similar software. * Knowledge of Wolfpack Reporting or other academic financial reports. * A thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, with the ability to interpret, apply and communicate these principles in a manner which supports the needs and operations of programs and departments. * Ability to monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and analyze data to ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations and systems of internal control. * Ability to evaluate approaches for choosing a course of action and developing appropriate conclusions and solutions by taking initiative consistent with available facts, constraints and anticipated consequences.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business or related discipline preferred
