International Employment Program Assistant

Primary Function of Organization Unit: International Employment (IE) assists NC State University to successfully employ and retain foreign national employees needing employment sponsorship on a temporary and/or permanent basis and manages the I-9 and E-Verify compliance processes. IE stays current with relevant U.S. Citizenship and Immigrant Service (USCIS), Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, and Department of Labor regulations and policies, and provides education to the university community to facilitate understanding and compliance.
Essential Job Duties: The Program Assistant provides programmatic and administrative support to International Employment (IE), assisting the Manager in providing information related to immigration and governmental regulations and procedures to employees and hiring officials. The Program Assistant helps with preparation of employment-based visas; monitors compliance with federal regulations; completes, reviews, troubleshoots, and resolves issues with I-9s and E-Verify; and produces documents and reports.
Department Required Skills: - Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced, deadline and accuracy driven environment. - Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or similar software. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with diverse populations from various countries and cultures. - Ability to multi-task and work independently.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Knowledge of immigration issues as related to employment eligibility. - Knowledge of best business practices, state, and federal policies related to international employment. - Database management experience and ability to use web-based systems. - Knowledge and experience with I-9 and E-Verify processes. - Experience with I-9 Guardian electronic system and Tracker immigration case management system. - PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin experience.
