Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology supports teaching, research, and extension programs in fundamental plant biology and microbiology, including basic and applied research, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and outreach to state and national clientele.
Essential Job Duties: The Research Scholar position will join a multidisciplinary team of molecular geneticists, bioinformaticians, and engineers to investigate the molecular circuitries of signal integration in plants. The position will use an avant-garde set of ideas and technologies in both molecular biology and engineering (such as ribosome footprinting, recombineering and dynamic modeling of translation-based gene regulatory networks) to conduct research. The multidisciplinary nature of this position represents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to combine experimental and theoretical approaches in biology. The position's main focus will be to investigate the complex molecular mechanisms involved in the signal integration of two plant hormones, ethylene and auxin.
Minimum Education/Experience: * PhD in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Molecular Genetics, or related fields.
Department Required Skills: * Experience in the field of molecular biology and genetics. * Work and communicate effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Experience with DNA, RNA and protein related experimental approaches.
