Primary Function of Organization Unit: The mission of the North Carolina Textile Foundation is to promote the welfare, future development and reputation of the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University as the premier institution for textile education and research. As a non-profit organization, the Foundation supports the College and Dean by providing funds to support the greatest need and highest priorities of the College.

Essential Job Duties: The Assistant Director will serve as an active team member in the development and implementation of the Foundation's short-term and long-term planning objectives. The Assistant Director will passionately articulate College needs, values and ambitions through excellent informal and formal presentations to make a persuasive oral and written case for supporting key College programs and priorities. Working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, administration, faculty, alumni and staff in the thoughtful and deliberate cultivation of external donors to increase support, the Assistant Director will be a key driver in the growth of the Foundation through the identification and development of annual fund donors, prospects and alumni, especially alumni within 15 years of graduation. The Assistant Director will implement leadership and annual gift strategies that will drive loyal annual giving, annual increases in gifts, and engage and inspire donors to give major gifts. This will include cultivation events and related fund raising initiatives. The Assistant Director will work in collaboration with the Board of Directors and provide meeting support and interaction with the development committee as determined by the Executive Director.

Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience (professional, student, and/or volunteer) in development or alumni relations.

Department Required Skills: - Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills. - Enthusiasm for fundraising in a public university. - Effective ability to handle multiple, ongoing complex projects. - Ability to work with multiple and varied constituencies. - Collegial; ability to work as part of a team in a goal-oriented environment. - Ability to learn and effectively utilize database applications. - Regional travel will be required to perform the duties of this position.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Experience in a fundraising environment, particularly in the facets of prospect development and management. Working programmatic knowledge for annual giving and developing plans for tiered giving with recognition.
