Job Summary This is a responsible technical position in the Infectious Diseases Laboratory (IDL) in the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. This position requires computer database expertise with knowledge of Access, Word, and other various computer-based applications. Extensive laboratory experience and excellent organizational skills are essential. Primary duties will including the following: maintenance of cell lines, primary cell culture and virus isolation and purification, PCR-based testing research and diagnostics, serology and maintenance of computer database, bio-safety approvals and chemical inventory. The selected candidate will be a creative and devoted experimentalist and diagnostician, and will collaborate with other members of the team to develop, validate and run diagnostic assays. The candidate is expected to provide mentorship to peers in methodologies for mastered assays. Through individual and team contributions the candidate will help establish their team's success in providing state of the art diagnostics to the patients and communities we serve. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree and some related experience or equivalent combination required Area-specific certification (i.e.; SCUBA) and training may be required. Other training will be provided as appropriate (i.e.; Radiation Worker).
