Description:

Pursue technology development and implementation in the areas of polymer blends, reactive extrusion, polymer functionalization technology and polymer characterization to support Braskem business units.

Key Polymer Functionalization / Modification responsibilities include:

• Prospect the state-of-art in polyolefins modification, polymer blends based on polyolefins and reactive extrusion technologies

• Identify, develop, implement and verify value-added loads, fillers, modifiers and chemicals to modify polyolefins and apply knowledge broadly across existing and new research programs

• Ensure that polymer functionalization technology balance performance with cost

• Develop strong working relationships with leading universities and research groups working on Polymers Modification, Polymer Blends and Polymers Functionalization

Key Polymer Characterization Technology responsibilities include:

• Identify and support new polymer characterization and analytical needs for Innovation and Technology team

• Develop relationships with and qualify external testing laboratories to supplement internal characterization needs

• Develop strong working relationships with Commercial, Technical Service, Product Technology, and Industrial teams

Requirements:

PhD's degree in Polymer Science and Materials Engineering with more than 10 years of experience in polymer research and development, analysis and characterization. Strong analytical and critical judgment skills. Ability to identify opportunities, define problems, clarify targets and goals and persistence in developing solutions. Excellent written and verbal communications as well as computer skills. Incumbent must be self-motivated, responsive and proactive. Possess strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities to interact with internal and external customers, vendors and faculties. The incumbent must be team and results oriented, with the ability to implement and ensure the success of new technology developments and improvements.

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

Advanced Degree. Experience in general and advanced polymer science characterization and chromatography techniques (GC-MS, Headspace GC-MS, GPC, LC, TREF, SEM, AFM). Experience with extrusion, reactive extrusion, polymer blends, nanotechnology and advanced knowledge of loads, fillers, modifiers and chemicals for polymer modification. In addition, experience with project management tools applied on polymers research and development projects.
