Associate Director, Student Health Services

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Time Base/Hours/Units per Week: Full-time/40 hours per week

Position Description: The Associate Director provides direction, leadership, and management of the Student Health Services Nursing department. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the work of nursing staff, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Medical Assistants. Develops and maintains nursing standards and protocols. Maintain accreditation and oversight with state agencies, auditors and state inspectors. Participates in the Continuous Quality Management Improvement Program such as clinical studies, nursing peer review, and nursing competencies. Recommends staffing and budgets. Participates in the recruitment, orientation, and training of all new nursing staff. Assists the Director of Student Health Services in overseeing health center operations, strategic planning and assessment, and with other management projects as needed. Serves as a member of the Student Health Services executive team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Working knowledge of university age populations in a health care setting. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with university students. Knowledgeable in the full scope of nursing practices and protocols. Strong leadership and management skills. Knowledge of budgets and appropriate staffing. Knowledge of HIPAA.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in nursing, public health, health care administration and/or appropriate related field. Demonstrated professional experience in ambulatory clinical operations/clinical management required. Three years of supervisory or leadership experience required.
