Job Description

The Systems Furniture CAD Specialist role will support designing and promoting Office Furniture Centers's (OFC) line of premium pre-owned and refurbished workstations. The Specialist will be an integral part of team consisting of Product Specialists, inventory/material management and production personnel who oversee the receipt and configuration of pre-owned furniture obtained from liquidations, space decommissions and purchases; the set-up and marketing of product in our showroom and the identification, CAD design, material specification and pricing of pre-owned and refurbished workstations in response to external client's requirements for workstations.

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

Develop libraries of typical configurations and layouts for new-to-OFC workstation product

o Work with inbound inventory personnel and workstation Product Specialists to identify parts and assemblies

o Determine optimal configuration to maximize re-sale of product

o Produce AutoCAD drawings and graphic renderings of product

Identify workstation solutions in response to client needs

o Use block plan provided by designer staff to identify potential workstation inventories to best meet workstation requirements

o Generate 2D and 3D representations of workstations

o Create renderings of workstations

o Produce parts list and enter into OFC's cloud-based ERP system (Netsuite)

o Generate quote for each workstation solution (via Netsuite)

o Product PowerPoint presentations as needed to "sell" solution

Generate technical documents to finalize the sale and implementation of furniture projects

o Create quotations for furniture, delivery and installation

o Generate bills of material (BoM) for workstations and componentized items

o Place Purchase Orders (POs) with vendors for new product

o Create installation drawings

Perform other duties as required

o Communicate and coordinate with internal groups to help ensure successful implementation of projects

o Record time worked by project

o Track time against billable hours

o Track POs and other deliverable items (as needed)

o Contribute to process improvement efforts

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

The Systems Furniture CAD Specialist role requires a strong attention to detail, creative thinking and problem-solving, successful execution of processes and procedures, effective verbal and written communication with internal personnel, vendors and internal groups. The ability to multi-task and prioritize work is an essential skill of the

In addition, the position requires the following key knowledge and skill requirements:

• Proficient using AutoCAD and at least one rendering tool such as Revit, Google Sketch-up, etc.

• Proficient with MS Office products particularly Excel and PowerPoint

• AS degree Interior Design, Architecture, CAD, Mechanical Drafting

• Knowledge and experience of systems furniture knowledge desired (Herman Miller AO2 and Ethospace, Steelcase 9000, Haworth Unigroup, Knoll Dividends and REFF)


Salary commensurate with experience and skills inventory. Benefits including paid time off and medical insurance after 90 days. Company matching 401K contribution up to three percent of salary after 12 months of service. Annual bonus potential.
