Specialist - Outreach-Fixed Term
The Axia Institute (formerly known as: Midland Research Institute for Value Chain Creation-MRIVCC), within the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, invites applications for an Academic Specialist position in the area of Value Chain Strategic Marketing particularly focusing on entrepreneurial activities and bringing technology to market. Candidates must have an earned MBA in Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or another closely related discipline. This is a one year fixed term, renewable appointment through The Axia Institute to be located in Midland, MI (http://midlandvaluechain.broad.msu.edu/).
The successful candidate is expected to work in collaboration with faculty, MSU researchers, The Institute, and external private sector and public sector partners, to move fundamental research from early feasibility stages to commercialized technology. The research portfolio addresses grand value chain challenges such as smart packaging, product authentication, optimization, and digitization to name a few. The candidate will be expected to do facilitate research projects from lab to practical application engaging and transferring technology to industry partners.
Responsibilities include: conducting market research; completing value chain assessments; and determining the best potential commercial applications of the research projects across multiple value chains such as fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), durable goods, health care, etc. Additional responsibilities include recruiting public/private partners by developing and implementing The Axia Institute's outreach and communications strategy.
The preferred candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated expertise in strategic marketing roles, experience working directly with external customer, and will be evaluated based on their initiative, strategic thinking, and creativity. Candidates should have an entrepreneurial mindset and experience in supply chain management, market research, website design, and developing and implementing strategic marketing plans.
