Job Description:

Observes utility construction activities on multiple projects, informs the Project Manager and documents all relevant observations, including the progress of the work and any problems that develop, and recommends solutions to problems encountered for approval by the Project Manager.

Prepares thorough and accurate records of the contractor’s operations, including comprehensive Daily and Weekly Reports with measurement of daily quantities completed, resources utilized, and photographs of relevant work.

Verifies that the contractor’s work and materials conform to the requirements of the contract. Assist with documenting compliance and non-compliance with established quality control and quality assurance standards and best practices.

Review and monitor the contractor-maintained master as-built drawings.Reviews and comments on engineering and architectural design projects to ensure that utilities outside the building conform to UF’s Design and Construction standards

A criminal background will be conducted.

Regular working hours are Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. Occasional extended days or weekend work may be required as dictated by the contractor’s schedule.

Advertised Salary:

Expected starting salary is $25.00hr - $28.00hr base on experience.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in areas of utility construction, road construction, experience with mechanical (chilled water, steam) and medium voltage electrical systems preferred, but not required.

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of construction-related codes and related laws and ordinances

Knowledge of various types of utility construction materials, methods, and stages in construction as to be able to determine when possible violations and defects may be easily observed and corrected.

Knowledge of laptop computer systems and general software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret work-related documents, including engineering drawings and specifications.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work unsupervised for moderate periods of time.

Possess strong interpersonal communications skills, both written and verbal.

Demonstrated problem-solving ability in dealing with issues in a proactive manner.
